{"id":1146,"date":"2011-01-29T12:50:11","date_gmt":"2011-01-29T11:50:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.jesperjuul.net\/ludologist\/?p=1146"},"modified":"2011-01-29T21:17:40","modified_gmt":"2011-01-29T20:17:40","slug":"depth-in-one-minute-a-conversation-about-bejeweled-blitz","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.jesperjuul.net\/ludologist\/2011\/01\/29\/depth-in-one-minute-a-conversation-about-bejeweled-blitz\/","title":{"rendered":"Depth in one Minute: A Conversation about Bejeweled Blitz"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I have posted an essay called<a href=\"http:\/\/www.jesperjuul.net\/text\/depthinoneminute\/\"> Depth in one Minute: A Conversation about Bejeweled Blitz<\/a>, which I co-wrote with <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/#!\/RazorMouse\">Rasmus Keldorff<\/a> for the new <a href=\"http:\/\/www.etc.cmu.edu\/etcpress\/content\/well-played-2\">Well Played 2.0 anthology<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>This is a conversation about the design and merits of the <em>Blitz<\/em> format, about how we develop strategies, about chance, about the danger of burning out on a specific game, and about the difference between younger and older players.<\/p>\n<p>Incidentally, this is the fourth time I have written about <em>Bejeweled<\/em> (first time about <a href=\"http:\/\/www.jesperjuul.net\/text\/swapadjacent\/\">matching tile games<\/a>, second time about <a href=\"http:\/\/www.jesperjuul.net\/casualrevolution\/\">casual games<\/a>, third time as <a href=\"http:\/\/htlit.com\/archives\/April2010\/GameoftheDecade4.html\">game of the decade<\/a>).
